John Cena has established himself over the last decade as one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time. He has been the face of the company and as his career is winding down, he continues to prove just how great he is. For most of 2015, John Cena had his sights set on the United States Championship and was not in the forefront of the WWE main event picture.  Cena first feuded with the undefeated Rusev having a series of matches. Their first match at Fastlanc was a fun bout, but Cena would defeat Rusev and capture the US Title. The next night after Wrestlemania, we had the debut of the John Cena United States Championship Open Challenge. Cena would give challengers the opportunity to win the title every week on RAW, one of the best segments all year round. Not only was it exciting to see an unknown challenger show up but it led to an incredible amount of different opponents that Cena would square off, predominantly mid-card guys. This year was one of Cena’s greates inside the ring with memorable matches with Ambrose, Stardust, Neville, Rollins, Owens, Sami Zayn and two incredible bouts with Cesaro. Despite sparingly being in the “main event” picture, John Cena remained a focal point of WWE programming and allowing new guys to share the spotlight certainly made Cena the superstar of the year in 2015.
