WWE Network Special Event of the Year

  • The Beast in the East
  • NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn
  • NXT TakeOver: Respect
  • NXT TakeOver: London

Once again we see just how far NXT has come this past year given that 3 of their TakeOver specials have dominated this category for show of the year, even edging out Wrestlemania. It is incredible to think that what was designed to be the developmental organization for the WWE could not only go on the road but sell nearly 15,000 + tickets. All the competitors on the card felt like big stars as fans were electric to see various superstars they don’t otherwise get to see live. It was great see the debuts of Jushin Thunder Liger and Apollo Crews on NXT television. The one wish looking back at this night would have been to see Enzo Amore and Big Cass to win the tag titles because this Brooklyn crowd was incredibly supportive of these two. Finn Balor and Kevin Owens were certainly valued as some of the biggest stars in NXT but they had a daunting task following a Match of the Year candidate. The crowd did a fantastic job in making Bayley’s victory a tremendous moment in NXT history. The Beast in the East was a fun experience to get up at 5:00AM, NXT Respect had some solid wrestling and NXT London had an awesome crowd but NXT Brooklyn was the collection of all these things making it a incredibly fun night for wrestling fans.
