25 Years of the Undertaker: 2007

As many of the reviews have begun, we start at the Royal Rumble. The Undertaker had competed in past Rumble matches previously however he had never won the big 30-man elimination match. In the 2007 Royal Rumble, the Undertaker would enter #30, an entry number that had never fared well in this match. The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels would be the final two in this match. I remember seeing this and wanting to see an actual match between the two as they’d cemented themselves as legends on the roster. The Undertaker would finally eliminate HBK and win his first ever Royal Rumble match guaranteeing he’d be comepting for a title at Wrestlemania.

The Undertaker set his sights on Batista. It was a match of Title versus the Streak. Once again, Batista seemed primed and ready to retain his title and end the Streak. This was indeed match of the night in my opinion as the Undertaker and Batista had one heck of a championship match. The Undertaker would win his first World Heavyweight Championship, however this title reign would come to abrupt end due to injury.

The Undertaker would return in the Fall of that year and defeat a former foe in Mark Henry. The Undertaker would then resume his feud with Batista as they would compete in a Special Guest Referee match and Hell in a Cell, where Edge would cost the Undertaker the title. Edge who had ended the Undertaker’s title run early in the year would find himself champion once again as 2007 ended. The Undertaker would have his eyes on not only Edge but the World Heavyweight Championship as well.
