Yokozuna arrived on the scene and dominated early in his career. Within months Yoko main evented Wrestlemania IX and won the most coveted prize, the WWE Championship. This tremendous feat would be short lived as Hulk Hogan quickly defeated Yokozuna and ended his reign within minutes. I’m sure this was not how Yokozuna envisioned his first title reign but he quickly won the title back and held it until the next year’s Wrestlemania. Yoko defended his title twice on that night and was able to fend off Lex Luger but Bret Hart got his revenge and defeated Yoko. At the following Wrestlemania, Yokozuna teamed with Bret’s brother Owen and captured the World Tag Titles and once again in this up and down world of Wrestlemania, Yoko competed against Owen Hart and his teammates in a Six-Man Tag. Overall, one can say Yokozuna had immediate success which led to him competing against the Federation’s top talents and main eventing back to back Wrestlemanias. Even after the height of his career, his grand stature ensured that he would have a spot on the Grandest stage.
